We understand that getting your results is important to you. We know you want them quickly, but it is equally important that we give you the score that reflects your performance.
You can expect your IELTS results to be available 13 calendar days after your test.
IELTS results online, by post and collection
You’ll be able to preview your results online from 15:00 onwards, 13 days after your test day. You will need your IELTS candidate number you can obtain by logging into your account on the IELTS online registration portal on the results release day.
Your IELTS results (also known as your Test Report Form) will be posted to you 13 days after the main test day. Please enquire in advance if this needs to be sent overseas as an additional charge might apply.
You may also be able to collect your results from the main centre of your IELTS test centre from the 13th day after your exam. Please contact them about this.
Uncollected Test Report Forms will be destroyed after one year.
Test Report Form (TRF)
Test scores are also recorded on an official Test Report Form (TRF), showing overall ability, as well as performance in listening, reading, writing and speaking.
You will receive one copy of the Test Report Form. Unfortunately, replacements cannot be issued if you lose it.
Additional Test Report Forms (TRFs) for institutions
Within two months of the written test date, you may request for up to a maximum of five additional TRFs to be posted to receiving institutions (e.g. universities, immigration officers, etc.) free of charge. If you would like us to do this, please include the complete addresses in the 'Application for Issue of Additional TRFs'. An administrative fee by your IELTS centre applies to requests for additional TRFs. Please complete this form.
You may apply for further copies of the Test Report Form for a period of two years from the examination date. Additional copies can be sent only to receiving institutions, not given to candidates.
Validity period of Test Report Form
Institutions will not usually accept a Test Report Form that is more than two years old. After this time, you will need to provide them with evidence that you have maintained or improved your English since taking the test.
Enquiry on Results (EOR)
If you did not receive the score you expected, you can apply for your test to be re-marked. This is called an Enquiry on Results (EOR). You can choose which test sections you want to be re-marked.
The fee for this service is NZD$250, which will be refunded if your score is increased for any section of the test.
You need to apply for a re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date, regardless of whether you have taken IELTS on Paper IELTS on Computer.
You can submit an Enquiry on Results online from the Test Taker Portal. Alternatively, you can download the Enquiry on Results Form from the download section below and submit it to the test centre where you sat the test. Make sure you attach your proof of payment.
You result will normally be available in 2 to 21 days, depending on several factors including the number of sections requested for remark. If you have not received a response after 28 days, please contact your test centre.
Understand your IELTS scores
IELTS provides results for all levels of English: there is no such thing as a pass or fail. You will be given a score from zero to nine for each part of the test – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking

Can I re-take the test?
You can take the test as many times as you wish. However, please note that to significantly improve your score it is necessary to undertake further study. IELTS research indicates that scores are unlikely to improve without further English language tuition.
