Study Permit (Student Visa) for Philippines

International students who wish to study in the Philippines for a course above the level of high school will need to secure a student visa from the Philippine consulate in their home country after getting admitted to their chosen university.

To obtain a student visa, you will need to provide relevant documents, attend an interview and pay the visa fee. Requirements vary, so please check the Philippine embassy website in your home country. In general you will be required to present the following documents:

  • Passport (must be valid for at least 6 months)
  • Visa Application Form
  • Medical Health Certificate
  • Letter of Admission from the respective university
  • ID photos
  • Birth Certificate
  • Educational records
  • Proof of funds

A Special Study Permit (SSP) is issued to a foreign national below the age of 18 and/or those taking non-degree courses in the Philippines. A SSP is a permit only, not a visa. It is issued under the Temporary Visitor Visa of a foreign national.

Why does an increasing number of candidates wishing to study in the Philippines choose IELTS?

(1) Demonstrate your ability to communicate in a face-to-face Speaking test.

Unlike other language proficiency exams where you are required to talk to a machine during your Speaking test, IELTS gives you the opportunity to talk with an examiner face-to-face in a relaxing and supported environment.

(2) Develop skills relevant to your studies and student life.

IELTS places emphasis on your ability to communicate in authentic situations. There is no need to memorise a large amount of unnecessary vocabulary or grammar. Rather, IELTS includes learning how to communicate in a range of scenarios you will encounter in learning environments. This will empower you to reach your full potential in your studies and student life.
